Found buried, but Alive!
An Amber Alert went out in Southern Florida early Sunday morning for an 8-year old little girl. Every time I hear or read the words Amber Alert … I think of Amber Hagerman and how things ended so horribly for her in 1996. This time the little girl was found in time! Seven hours after being reported missing the young girl was rescued by Police Sgt. Mike Hall.
Left to die in a trash bin under rocks and concrete blocks, and unable to scream for help, let alone move, the 8-year-old girl still believed someone would find her.
Rescuers feared the worst, but the mood turned jubilant when they saw the girl’s fingers move and realized she was alive.

The young girl, even after her horrible ordeal, always knew someone would come for her and just waited for her rescuers to arrive! She is definitely a strong little girl and that strength will aid her well as she grows up.
The one who put her there was Milagro Cunningham, age 17, who was staying with the same family as the little girl. He has confessed and been charged with “attempted murder, sexual battery on a child under 12, and false imprisonment of a victim under age 13.”
This story even caught the attention of international media.

The New Era of Amber Alerts now extends beyond television, radio, and those digital traffic signs.
Congressman Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph) applauded Thursday’s unveiling of a new wireless AMBER Alert initiative that will promptly notify wireless subscribers of a child’s abduction in their immediate vicinity.
If anything good can be said to come out of such a horrible event, all the children that are saved by Amber Alerts is it … and maybe there is some meaning in Amber’s senseless death.
Thank God that Diana Gabriella Sanchez was found and that she was not harmed. And thank God for the Amber Alerts system. Colorado’s Daily Reporter May 22, 2005
